Which engagement ring would you rather have?

I have a tiny itty bitty hand (ring finger 4.75) and I love solitaire diamonds because they are elegant and simple.

I also love this one ring. I have never liked anything that isnt solitaires and suddenly i tried this one (the pic doesnt make it justice is so sparkly) and the size is perfect for my finger.

M boyfriend (soon to be fiancee) likes solitaires better. Which one do you prefer? the solitaire or the vintage-y looking one?

My problem with solitaires is that the prongs are so freaking long to accommodate the diamond that it sits half an inch tall on my hand. I can imagine it getting tangled on my curly hair!!

Please choose your favorite!

(he’s not going to get me a tiffany ring, but the tiffany setting is the one i like which they sell everywhere but couldnt find a decent picture. also for those that are gonna critizise that is gonna be less than 1 ct is because the full ct looks gaudy in my freakishly tiny hand. Lol

I like the 1st one better, classy and sorta unique!

I love the first one!!! I don’t really like the 2nd type of ring because that is what nearly everybody chooses these days and i wanted an engagement ring that was a little different.

If anybody criticises because it if less that 1 carat they are a complete moron!

Choose the ring you like best.

I like the first one better, but I have never been a fan of solitaires anyway.

And no one should dare criticize the ct count of your ring. That’s ridiculous.

I think you are right about the prongs getting caught in your curly hair. And you are the one wearing the ring, not your fiance. Get what you feel comfortable with.

I love the first one because its traditional but not something that everyone else already has

the tiffany ring

the setting is absolutely beautiful

i like the tiff. setting i think that would look very lovely and glamorous for the size of your hand(so cute and tiny!!!) hope this helps, i just love the look of the solitary diamond.

I like the first one better, and I think it would look better on your hand.

Definately the first one

I prefer the first one. Much more original, eye catching and more practical than the up-in-the-air, catch-on-everything solitaire.

YOU are the one who is going to wear it for 40 to 50 + years!
That said, be sure the setting is very well made, and prongs are very well set.
PS: do get your rings appraised and insured - my niece lost her engagement ring stone down the drain when giving her baby a bath.

Generally, I like the first one because it is very unique.
Will you grow tired of it? Would a simple solitaire be more timeless?

I’ve been asking myself these same questions!

Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming engagement.

I actually love both of those rings. My opinion is that your BF knows what you like, and it is actually from him, so I’d let him pick from those, and present you with the one HE wants you to have. Either way, you win! You get a beautiful ring from the man you love, and a promise of a life together as husband and wife.

I would go with the first one. It’s actually very similar to mine, and I LOVE it. I think solitaires are very nice, but the diamond accents around the band are truly stunning. Even with a small hand, this ring will be gorgeous on you.

I like the one from helzberg jewelers better. I don’t like solitaires at all. It makes me feel like its the early 80’s again.

check out this website too…this is the only place I fell truly in love with a ring. http://www.mosesjewelers.com/ They are a great local company. That promises nothing but the best. They make everything hand made. And you get a written appraisal when you buy the ring. So you know what it is worth.
GOOD LUCK & CONGRATS

They are both nice and I wouldn’t be upset with either. I have to say that I like the first one better though. Congrats!

I love the beauty and vintageness of the first one, but love the simplicity of the second.
I too have a really small finger (4.5) and have rings similar to these, and I find that the vintage styled one looks so delicate and dainty on my hand where as the solitare one makes my hand look kinda huge because the rings so small.

In the end, its all up to what pleases your eyes and not everybody elses though!
:)

I had the same two styles in mind and I have small fingers (5) as well! AND I have the curly hair issue to deal with! However, my awesome fiance ended up designing me a ring that incorporated elements of both of these styles and it is amazing and I wouldn’t part with it for the world. The end product has a round solitaire in the center with a pinched band that has three channel set diamonds on each side. The pinched band is something I had never seen before and it looks amazing on my “little kid” hand! ( =

I say let him decide what to get you. That way you are surpised. But if you are going to pick, go with the first ring as it’s a bit more visually stunning than the solitaire, although that is gorgeous too - you’re right, a very difficult decision!

Good luck!

Number One is beautiful and trendy. #2 is rather common.

Good luck

The first one is stunning! :)

omg the first one is beautiful, i want one just like this, but squared!, congrats! u must be so excited! :)

Mine actually looks exactly like the Tiffany ring in gold. I like that one so much more. The first one is so…eh, everyone’s got that exact same style. Also, I’ve got itty bitty short fingers and everything, and with a ring that size it would look way too big. As far as the one carrot, that’s way too much for small hands! Mine is only 3/4 carrot, including the diamonds on the wedding band

I had the same issue. My fingers aren’t as tiny as yours are but my hands are small. I love the solitaire. They are classic and timeless. I also prefer less than a full carat because they are just too big for my hands. If you want to dress it up later, you can always purchase a wrap to fit around the solitaire at a later time. Be careful though, many jewelers carry settings that are higher than others and the wraps don’t work with them. Good luck and Congratulations. I am sure you will find the perfect ring in the perfect size to fit your petite hand!

The Tiffany setting is a classic.
It is beautiful! And if that is what you like, get it!
The vintagy one is cute, but is nothing like the Tiffany’s setting. :) It is timeless.

Consider this… what type of wedding band do you wnt. Try both the solitae and other ring on with a wedding band you like and see what set you like best since you will be wearing both together.

I love the first one. It’s very unique and kind of antique/art deco looking. I think it’s much prettier than a solitaire that 50% of brides have these days.

My ring finger is 3.5 size and my engagement ring has a .6 carat center-stone. It looks big on my little fingers! That’s the thing about having small hands, your guy doesn’t have to spend a fortune on a diamond to have it look big and fancy.

Good Luck!

I was engaged to someone who got me the tiffany ring and I thought I’d get a band with some diamonds. But we broke the engagement.

Then I met someone and we got engaged with a ring similar to the first one in platinum except with a large radiant stone and it’s gorgeous. I also got a diamond band that compliments it perfectly.

This is about YOU and what YOU like.

And yes, the tiffany one does get caught on things more easily that the other ring.

We have the same ring size! And some of the same problems… I wanted something that wouldn’t overwhelm my tiny hands, and I work with children, so I needed something that would not snag. My Fiance went out all on his own and surprised me with the perfect ring and SURPRISE! It was not one I would have picked out on my own! That being said, I really, really, really like the vintage one. It’s super unique and sparkly and feminine. Love it!

Both are beautiful rings. My ring actually looks like the second one. I think the ring is the the perfect size since you have small hands. I also have small hands. I wear a size 5 so my fiance decided to buy me a 3/4 solitaire because the 1 ct looked so big on my little finger. I actually have people ask me all the time if my ring is a 1 ct because even the 3/4 looks kinda big on my finger and I guess because it sparkles so much it looks bigger than it is.

I like the tiff setting better, but they are both nice!!

I’d prefer the Helzberg ring, only because I find a solitary gem on a plain band awkward. I think it sticks out to much, and I agree that the prongs would get caught on so many things that it would drive me to the point of not wearing it.

My own engagement ring is a family heirloom, a eternity band with no single larger gem. The Helzberg ring remind me of it, so I like that one the best. It’s a great design, elegant, and probably more comfortable.

solitaire prongs shouldn’t get stuck on things, if they do take it to a jeweler and have them tighten the prongs. hair should not get caught. you will adjust to caring anf having your precious on your finger and should stop smashing it on things after a few days.

i love the helzberg GIA masterpiece. good stones. pretty ring, one thing to consider is — does helzberg have a matching wedding band and do you mind if it doesn’t sit flush?

the helzberg setting and the tiffany setting are equally high.

I like the shape of the Tiffany one more, but I like the first ones centre diamond more. My favourite ring is
http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?sku=20012684 with the thickest band.
You are the one who is going to be wearing it forever. You choose.

I love #1!!!

I know how you feel about tiny hands. The reason I also think #1 would be great for you is because of what you could do for the wedding band. Doing a cute pave diamond ring as the wedding band will look AMAZING with the engagement ring and adorable on your little hand.

http://jeffcarterjewelers.com/bridal-right/images/Ze/96010SET.jpg

You could do just one strand of pave diamonds. Hope this helps.

GOODLUCK :-)

Though I like the look of the first one, I wouldn’t like it for myself because I have small hands.
Always thought I would want a solitaire, but it didn’t look right on my hand either.
What my husband chose was a solitaire with smaller shoulder stones, and the wedding band has three of the smaller stones - and they are on rather narrow bands, so together they still look quite delicate.
Something like this style, though I think my diamonds are larger, but not by much.

+Remember if you do get the first one, that you may have a hard time matching a wedding band around that centre dip - see if you can get a set.

I think the tiffany one it’s simply beautiful.
