How do / work? when to give what?
Im planning on proposing to my girlfriend as soon as i look for and buy a ring but im kinda confused. Theres bridal sets which go together, and theres engagement rings then weedding rings to givin at the wedding obviously. In the second instance, should the be the larger of the two or should the wedding ring itsself be larger? thanks

the engagement one is bigger than the wedding ring. (you give that first) unlike my husband who didnt know tha difference and gave both at once. after a few months we got married and I asked him where my ring was and he thought the engagement ring was BIG ENOUGH for both rings.

  1. .

The bridal set is the engagement ring and wedding in one set… basically a matched pair of rings
Then there are engagement rings without a matching wedding ring.. this is usually called a solitaire or a stand alone ring. People often purchase a separate to go with the engagement ring.

Typically: A lady or a man wears an engagement until the day of the wedding. Then the wedding ring is given to them during the wedding ceremony. The engagement is typically more noticeable then the wedding ring.
    Good Luck.

Think of it this way. There is the diamond engagement ring which you buy and give to her when you want to propose. Then there is there are the wedding bands which you buy closer to the wedding date and exchange at your actual wedding ceremony. You see some bridal “sets” which consist of the diamond engagement ring and also the wedding band. The reason these are sold this way is because they are made to go together as a set, meaning they match. You can buy a set if you like but only give her the diamond engagement ring when you propose. Hold the band for the wedding day.

I also suggest you to go a local jeweler in your area rather than one of the chain stores in the mall. A jeweler is much more knowledgeable.

    Good luck! :-)

First off, congrats! Secondly, don’t freak out. There’s two ways to propose, first way is you pick out a ring and propose to her. Second way is you get a cheapy and propose to her and then the both of you go pick out her ring (my husband did it the first way and it was so much better!). When you pick out an engagement ring, think only of the engagement ring itself and your, hopefully, soon to be fiancĂ©e. That way you pick something from the heart and worry about the wedding band later. They just sell sets for simplification but you can have just a plain channel band for a wedding band. Good luck!!

To propose to your girlfriend, you should give her an engagement ring.

Before the wedding, you should both get wedding rings.

The wedding ring is not a big deal, but the engagement ring is.

I highly suggest shopping for both online. If you go to http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/ you can custom design a perfect ring for your bride to be. Plus, you’ll save up to 30% of the in-store price and not have to deal with pushy salespeople.

Check here for wedding rings: http://www.jamesallen.com/wedding-and-anniversary/

Finally, here’s some useful info. about selecting a suitable wedding ring to match her engagement ring: http://www.jamesallen.com/wedding-rings.html

I went the online route and bought my now wife a James Allen engagement ring, and we both were totally pleased. They shipped fast (with a certificate) in a really nice package. I can’t say enough good things.

You have nothing to lose – go browse online ring retailers. I guarantee you’ll be happy you did.
